Awesome Aqueduct Attains World Heritage Site Status

Waterways leaders, council chiefs and local communities are today celebrating the news that Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal has been given World Heritage Site status.

The journey which began in the 1999 when it was put on the UK’s list of potential World Heritage Sites ended this week in Seville when UNESCO granted Thomas Telford’s masterpiece equal status with the Great Barrier Reef, the Taj Mahal and the Acropolis. Read more...

Calling all local vintage and classic car owners

A living history event is being organised featuring historical re-enactors and veteran, vintage and classic cars and motorbikes at Bersham Ironworks on August 2nd. Any owners of such vehicles are invited to come along and exhibit their car, motorbike or other vehicle on the day. all they need to do is register before July 1st. Read more...

Firms urged to support Wrexham Business Week 2009

Companies from across Wrexham are being urged to take part in the eighth Wrexham Business Week which takes place this year between November 16 and 20.

The event is the largest event of its type in the region, with a programme of around 60 events attracting delegates from across Wales, the North West and the Midlands.

Best Kept Village/Community Award 2009/10

Villages and Communities throughout Wrexham are being invited to enter this year's best Kept Village or Community competition by Wrexham Council's Environment Department.

The award follows last year's successful Best Kept Street award which was won by Glendower Place in Hanmer. The new award will be made to the community or village that not only exhibits the cleanest streets and open spaces, the tidiest community floral areas and the best kept private gardens, but also demonstrates a high level of community involvement in the achieving the improvements. Each entrant will also be judged on the future sustainability of the projects.Read more...
